If you want your own VPN and don’t trust any of the providers out there, you can put together your own at DigitalOcean for $5/month.

And it will work with most common OS’s both desktop and mobile.

The DigitalOcean community has a thorough write up for getting it installed and up and working.

I used the instructions and it works brilliantly.
